Impress upgrades site with materials handling spend

Metal packaging specialist Impress has upgraded its materials handing equipment with a raft of investments from Jungheinrich.

The Merthyr Tydfil-based company has bought 15 counterbalanced forklift trucks and one pedestrian stacker.

The trucks are a mix of LPG and electric powered models and are finished in Impress’s corporate colours.

"The company places considerable emphasis on continuous improvement to develop the business," said Impress plant manager Paul Fox.

He added: "We firmly believe that the acquisition of this fleet of forklift trucks will improve efficiency and enable a safer working environment to benefit both the staff and the business."

The LPG trucks feature a hydrostatic drive, which, according to Impress, makes them extremely manoeuvrable. In addition, each new model is fitted with Jungheinrich’s ISM management system to enable a range of truck performance indicators to be monitored remotely.
