Scott's Porage Oats Rests Stone

Scott's Porage Oats rests stone- putter in first redesign for 50 years

Cereal Scott's Porage Oats is giving its Highland stone-putter a well-earned rest in its first major packaging redesign for more than half a century.

The porridge brand, which first launched in 1888, last gave a major change to its packaging in 1955 when its image of the kilt-wearing sportsman was turned from black and white to colour.

Scott's is now replacing him for a limited edition run of 2m packs with a series of images of players from the Scottish rugby team including Chris Paterson, Thom Evans and Ross Ford (pictured).

The new designs, created by marketing agency Initial, are the result of a partnership between the cereal and Scottish Rugby. They launch this week and are timed to coincide with the Six Nations championship, which begins on 6 February.

Sean Summers, marketing director for Quaker, said: "We have always championed Scottish sport and today we are celebrating the heroes of Scottish rugby."

The partnership deal will also include ticket give-aways to Six Nations matches and this year's autumn internationals. A number of Scotland players will also be visiting local schools in Fife to talk about the importance of eating a healthy breakfast and exercise.

The standard packaging features a muscle-bound stone-putter sporting a white vest and kilt
