US conveying system manufacturer Vac-u-max is targeting European growth after gaining the CE certification for consumer safety.

Vac-u-max manufactures pneumatic conveying systems and support equipment, primarily using vacuums. The firm said it was hoping the certification would help expand its global business in the Americas and Asia Pacific.

Doan Pendleton, vice president for sales and marketing, described gaining the certification as a milestone for the New Jersey-based firm.

"We've been so busy domestically and now we are in a strong position to expand our markets and deliver our technology worldwide," he said.

Vac-u-max's conveying technology is used predominantly in the chemical, food and pharmaceutical markets, but special applications include coins and heavy metal powders.

The firm is also involved in the production of heavy-duty vacuum cleaners, ranging from small drum units to large diesel-powered items.
