Brand design consultancy Yin and Yang has created a new look for Ring Lighting's bulb packaging that is being launched in Focus DIY stores this month.
The new design aims to give structure to the entire range to help customers choose the bulb that suits their needs.
Natalie Cooper, Ring Lighting marketing and communications manager, said the brand had needed a "major update" as the number of different bulb versions had increased dramatically in recent years with the move to more environmentally friendly bulbs.
"The new approach brings freshness to the category, while communicating basic information. Lighting is a technical category where clarity of information is vital and the new design provides that and creativity in equal measure," he said.
Yin and Yang co-founder Ian Kelly said the firm had used a colour scheme to represent warmth and quality, and a "circuit" detail to draw consumers' eyes to the important technical information.
"The brand has evolved several generations from the previous version and now includes a focal 'spotlight'. Lighting is all about brightness and reflection, so we have reflected the brandmark to create a navigation tab," he said.
