Carolina Color Corp., (Salisbury, NC) a family-owned business founded in 1967, announced an expansion to its Salisbury, NC facility. Carolina Color manufactures color concentrates for the plastics industry from its ISO 9001:2008 certified locations in Salisbury and in Delaware, OH. “To support the company’s hyper-growth during the past five years, the company has invested nearly $10 million in research and development, plant upgrades and new equipment,” the company said.

Carolina Color’s next phase of growth required expanding its footprint. The Salisbury site is housed within the northernmost city limits, adjacent to the small town of Spencer. The company made the decision to stay local rather than abandoning its current facility and moving out of the community. Consequently, the company has purchased an older building, located behind the current plant that will be repurposed. An older, blighted home in the same area was recently removed to make room for Caroling Color’s new customer collaboration center.

“Innovation is everything at our business and these two new spaces will be critical to continue our industry-leading new product development efforts,” said Matt Barr, CEO, Carolina Color. “It did not make sense for the company to relocate or expand anywhere else. For nearly 50 years, our company has benefited greatly from the Salisbury and Spencer communities’ dedicated workforce and strategic location to key cities in the Southeast corridor. The area affords a great quality of life for our employees. We also appreciate the significant support we have received from the regional economic development program over the years.”

Robert Van Geons, Executive Director of RowanWORKS, Economic Development states, “Carolina Color felt compelled to remain in Salisbury. After exploring options, we are pleased they found a way to make our community work for their business. We value them as a local employer and proactive corporate citizen. We look forward to supporting Carolina Color’s continued growth and community engagement.”

Carolina Color’s G2 and G3 product lines have proven performance in diverse applications including outdoor durables, packaging, and industrial and non-automotive transportation, stated the company. “Converters continue to be impressed by this game-changing technology,” added Barr. “Whether it is injection, extrusion or blowmolding, G2 and G3 technologies continue to hit the mark.”

Currently, Carolina Color operates one 10-hour daily shift, five days a week, and is capable of producing in excess of 25 million pounds annually. Excess capacity keeps the company poised to meet customers’ expanding needs, the company said.
