Spectra Packaging were recently asked to provide packs for Hillfarm Oils new range of skin care products.

The Suffolk based family business has recently diversified into the personal care market with the launch of their new Hand Wash and Hand Lotion products, made from rapeseed oil grown on their 4,000 acre family farm in Heveningham.

Hillfarm identified that there were a huge amount of different oils used in cosmetics and believed that rapeseed oil, rich in Vitamin E and containing Omega 3, 6 & 9, could provide a totally natural kind of skin care product.   

As a result, they contacted a number of cosmetics brands and manufacturers to see if they would consider using rapeseed oil. However, they were regularly told that nobody would want the name rapeseed oil on their label, preferring more glamorous names such as cucumber oil, jojoba oil or argan oil.

Undeterred and certain that Hillfarm rapeseed oil was so good, the company persevered and eventually teamed up with a local cosmetics manufacturer to develop the new range.

To ensure their latest products were not only produced locally, but also packaged locally, Hillfarm Oils came to Spectra, whose manufacturing plant is located near their farm.

Spectra were able to provide Hillfarm with advice and guidance on their new containers. The new 250ml products, which are sold as a twin pack, sit in a presentation wooden block and utilize Spectra’s popular Tall Boston Round design in PET.

Alex Beveridge, Field Sales Representative at Spectra commented, “Hillfarm are passionate about their local environment and were determined that the production of their latest venture remain in the area, not only grown and made, but also packaged and even filled, all of which was done in Suffolk. We were only too delighted to help”.

Hillfarm have already established an unenviable reputation for their healthy extra virgin cold pressed rapeseed oils and award winning mayonnaise, which are available in the UK through leading supermarkets, farm shops and delicatessens.

We feel the bottle shows off the two products really well, sitting in the wooden presentation block perfectly”.
