Contego Packaging announces new investment in Germany

Contego Packaging, formerly known as Nampak Healthcare, has announced that it will be investing in a new ‘state-of-the-art’ leaflet facility in Germany.

The supplier of cartons, leaflets, labels and foil for the pharmaceutical industry also hopes to create 26 new jobs by 2013.

It announced that it will be building a new 6,200 sq. m. factory in Wolfen to replace its existing facility there.

First footings are underway and the factory is scheduled for completion by Summer 2012.

The new factory will house the latest printing and folding technology, according to Contego.

Contego Packaging Group chief executive officer Tom Reid said: “The new facility at Wolfen means we will have production and warehousing under one roof enabling a more efficient workflow and ensuring we continue to comply with good manufacturing practice. It also means we can meet customer requirements now and in the future and gives us the potential we need for growth.”

Currently 84 staff are working at the existing facility in Wolfen and it is envisaged that all will be transferring to the new site which is located nearby, according to the firm.

When the new site is fully up and running, it will employ 110 staff.

Contego Packaging supplies the pharmaceutical industry with cartons, leaflets, labels and blister pack foils from ten sites across Europe. It also produces cartons for the food and beverage sectors from two sites in the UK and one in Holland.
