ISTA European Symposium: The Value of Distribution Packaging, 26-28 Oct 2010, Valencia

ISTA (the International Safe Transit Association) presents its second European Symposium, ‘The value of Distribution Packaging’, to be held 26-28 October 2010 in Valencia, Spain.

Speakers will include Asda, Sealed Air, UPS, Reckitt Benckiser, Sony and WRAP, as well as leading packaging testing and knowledge providers including Pira International and ITENE. ISTA pioneered the concept of package performance testing and certification 60 years ago and today its test procedures and certification programs are at the forefront of Transport Packaging including working with companies such as FedEx, UPS, Walmart and others to develop company specific tests such as the 6 Series Sam’s Club test.

The event will provide insight and benefit to delegates on the critical link between packaging and effective distribution of products, focusing on cost savings and delivering against sustainability requirements.  Presentations will give a practical overview on economic and environmental optimisation of distribution packaging development and on latest techniques in testing of packaged products to assess fitness for distribution.

Improvements in packaging and distribution offer great opportunity for delivering reduced damage, reduced costs, elimination of unnecessary use of materials and through improved customer service (delivery and lead time).  This European event and format compliments ISTA’s long standing events in the US which have a great track record of delivering value in these areas to large audiences for more than 30 years.

This year’s presentations will cover packaging value models, measuring environmental footprint, packaging and related supply chain developments in the retail environment, discussion of single trip versus returnable systems, packaging light weighting and various case studies on specific distribution issues with packaged products.
The event is hosted by ITENE, based in Valencia, who promise great networking and an enjoyable and informative event, building on last year’s successful launch of the Symposium.
