Findus signs up to Courtauld 2

The Findus Group has become the latest big name to sign up to the Courtuald Commitment Phase 2.

According to Findus, the company has achieved some “significant milestones” such as reducing waste to landfill from its Grimsby operations to less than 1%. In addition, the group siad it has cut down on product packaging.

Findus signed up to the first phase in 2007, through it’s Young’s brand. Back in September, Findus announced the appointment of Barry Pamplin (pictured) as packaging and technology director. His remit is to drive the group’s packaging strategy.

“We have already achieved good progress from Courtauld Phase 1,” said Pamplin. “This new commitment allows us to set even stronger targets to reduce waste throughout our supply chain, from raw material right through to the consumers who enjoy our products.”

Key commitments under Courtauld 2 include targeting a 10% reduction in packaging over the next three, increasing the use of recycled materials in product packaging and to target 0% operational waste to landfill by 2012.
