Food labelling legislation - what is the latest?
Legislation controlling food labelling remains a major issue for the food and drink industry. A lot is happening in the development of labeling controls, affecting date marking, health claims, additive controls and protected names, for example.
To discuss recent and proposed changes, Campden BRI is hosting a seminar on 2nd December 2010 (see www.campden.co.uk/food-labelling-seminar.htm). John Hammond, Head of Information and Legislation at Campden BRI explains: "We will cover six main areas of development: the proposed food information regulation; nutrition and health claims; new additive labelling controls; EU Protected Names labelling; environmental labelling; and date marking. As well as legislation experts from Campden BRI, were are very pleased to be able to welcome eminent external speakers: Irene Bocchetta is the EU Protected Food Names Manager at ADAS and has been promoting the European-wide scheme throughout the UK since 2006; she has specific responsibility for eligible applications from food and drink producers in England and Wales. Melanie Ruffell will discuss interpretation of the new nutrition and health claims regulation; she is an independent nutrition consultant, whose role includes advising and training interested parties on the new Regulation."
Campden BRI has been at the forefront of keeping the food, drink and allied industries up to date with the important changes in food legislation for many years - holding a number of conferences and seminars, as well as running a variety of training courses (see www.campden.co.uk/legislation-courses.htm).
