Jason Plastics invests to double shrink-film width

Film manufacturer Jason Plastics has doubled the width of its perforated shrink films with the installation of a new converting line.

Bury-based Jason Plastics produces a range of films for companies such as Nike, Sony, Britvic and Kimberly-Clark and said the new line would increase its product offering for both new and existing customers alike.

The new unit means it can produce micro-perforated films 2.2m wide, which is double the width of its previous widest film.

"It will especially be beneficial for manufacturers in the construction and packaging industries as we can produce full and strip micro-perforated shrink film for larger products such as insulation and timber," said managing director Brenton Walshaw.

Jason’s Tuffshrink+ film is said to provide good impact resistance and high tensile strength. It can be printed and is available in natural or coloured polyethylene.

The micro-perforation process allows excess air to be released during the shrinking process for a more compact look.
