Henkel raises adhesive prices by up to 20%

Henkel has is to impose price increases of up to 20% on its range of packaging adhesives, blaming hikes in its own input costs including for packaging.

The German group said in a statement that it was adding between 15% and 20% to all adhesive prices with immediate effect or as contracts allow.

Henkel said that a "relentless" rise in input costs had forced it into the move and cited its own packaging costs as well as raw materials costs.

It said: "Henkel feels compelled to take this step in order to further ensure delivery of the same high quality product and service standards expected by its customers."

Today's announcement is the latest in a series of cost increases from both packaging converters and their suppliers. The
most recent announcement came from Amcor last week, although it declined to reveal the extent of the increases it was imposing.

Henkel makes hotmelt, polyurethane and water-based adhesives for a range of packaging applications including labeling and paper converting.

It also supplies adhesives for consumer goods and construction as well as a wide range of consumer goods.
