Amcor announces price increases for flexible packaging

Amcor is the latest packaging firm to highlight escalating input costs as it announces flexible packaging price increases from today (15 September).

Amcor Flexibles Europe and Americas said it was raising the price of "most of its flexible packaging" due to the "recent and dramatic rise in raw material costs", particularly for polyester-containing products.

Javier Rojo, vice president of sales and marketing and Global Pharma, said: "In line with our dedication to minimising cost, we will continue to take aggressive measures to keep costs under control and work to identify ways of serving our customers in the most efficient ways possible."

Amcor declined to comment on the size of the price increases when contacted by Packaging News.

Amcor said the price increases would enable it to continue to invest in new product developments and environmentally sustainable operations.

Paper and board firms Iggesund and M-real have both announced price increases in the past month due to rising costs.

Ineos Nova and DuPont have also announced polymer price increases.
