Ardagh Glass Granted £1.95 million Regional Selective Assistance Award by the Scottish Government

Ardagh Glass’s plant in Irvine, Ayrshire is to receive a £1.95 million development grant from the Scottish Government.  The funding, announced at a meeting of the Scottish Cabinet today (7th September), will support ongoing improvements and investments of over £16 million, at Ardagh’s container glass manufacturing plant in Irvine over a three year period.

Niall Wall, CEO of Ardagh Glass Group PLC commented: “We appreciate the continued support of the Scottish Government, Scottish Executive and Scottish Development in helping us improve the sustainability of our manufacturing operations. This funding will ensure significant CO2 reductions and also ongoing efficiency improvements at our Irvine plant, helping to secure local employment”.

Ardagh Glass is one of Irvine’s largest employers, manufacturing glass containers, primarily for the spirits industry. The company is Europe’s third largest glass container manufacturer, producing over 13 billion glass containers a year, and employing 6,500 people, across 20 plants in Europe.
