Weigh label equipment maker Herbert Industrial has rebranded following a buy-out that completed last Friday.

The Suffolk-based firm has been bought for an undisclosed sum by David Anderson, an entrepreneur who previously ran Kent-based property business EPS.

The firm, which has been rebranded Herbert Partnering Solutions (HPSL), employs around 50 staff at manufacturing facilities in Haverhill and Oldham and supplies major names in the food and drink, pharmaceutical, toiletries and DIY sectors.

It was previously part of the Herbert Group, which is also based in Haverhill and sells a range of scanning, printing and weighing systems to retailers and the healthcare market.

Managing director Leigh Ondrea-Bendall will continue to lead the business with her existing management team and there are no current plans to move the company’s location.

New applicator range
The deal, which was signed last Friday, comes as HPSL
prepares to launch the new Sigma range of label applicators, which was first shown at this year’s Total Processing & Packaging show in May.

Bendall said: "This is an exciting time for the company. We now look forward to growing our market place as we continue to develop future-proof systems."

Anderson also underlined the continuing product development at HPSL which, he said, "will ensure that the company remains at the forefront of advanced intelligent solutions in the areas of expertise that it has become renowned for".

Herbert Industrial can trace its roots as a Suffolk company back 250 years. It acquired the site in Oldham in 2007 when it bought PALS, another labelling system manufacturer based in the Lancashire town.
