Design agency Coley Porter Bell has helped create the packaging for Inish Turk Beg's range of fish and meat products.

The premium foods include smoked tuna, mackerel, salmon and bacon. The packs are printed by Cashin Print, based in County Mayo, Ireland.

The products will be sold in retailers including Harrods, Harvey Nicols and Selfridges and rolled out to other outlets over the course of the year.

According to Coley Porter Bell, cardboard wallets open to reveal the vacuum packed product. In addition the packaging incorporates minimalist typography and branded punctuation; a sea horse is used for a comma, a pair of gulls are quotation marks and a fish is used hyphens.

"These are extremely sophisticated designs for a sophisticated brand aimed at a sophisticated clientele," said Coley Porter Bell chief executive Vicky Bullen.

Inish Turk Beg is an island off County Mayo owned by entrepreneur Nadim Sadek. Alongside fish and meat, whiskey and a line of beauty products are planned for the future.

"Without a huge marketing budget to support the brand, design is our main channel of communication," said Sadek.
